You can request an independent internal review by the IPCC FOI Appeals Officer, either because the IPCC has refused access to information or because you are not satisfied with the way in which the IPCC has handled your request, for instance:
Failure to respond within 20 working days
Failure to give you proper advice and help
Failure to give you information in the form in which you asked for it
Failure to justify any reason for refusing your request.
Complaints should be made in writing and addressed to the ‘FOI Appeals Officer’ at the address given below. Please also mark your letter ‘APPEAL AGAINST DECISION UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT’.
The FOI Appeals Officer will carry out an assessment of the way your request was handled and write to you with a reasoned decision. He or she will not have been involved in the processing of your original request and has the authority to reverse or amend the previous outcome where necessary.
