Moir StewartMoir joined the IPCC in January 2010. He was a member of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) for 33 years, joining in 1976 as a uniformed constable in Ealing.

Moir mainly served in uniform throughout his career in the centre/west of London. From 2001 to 2004 he was Borough Commander at Kensington and Chelsea. 
 
After attending the Senior Command Course at Bramshill in 2004, he became the Staff Officer to the then Commissioner of the MPS, Sir Ian Blair. Moir was in that post in July 2005 when the terrorist bombings took place in London. Following his promotion to Commander, Moir was given responsibility for ensuring that the MPS implemented all recommendations that arose as a result of the bomb attacks. 
 
Moir’s final posting in the MPS was as Head of Professional Standards and he retired at the end of December 2009. During the last ten years of his service he was public order trained and policed many major demonstrations and sporting events.
