International Development

Independent oversight of policing is a highly specialised activity, with many different models and approaches used across the world.  As part of its ongoing development the IPCC is committed to championing the effective oversight of policing, and to learning from the experiences of other models and systems operating across the globe.

The IPCC has become involved in providing support to the setup of an international network for organisations involved in the independent oversight of policing, and is currently beginning work to think about what such a new network would look like.

In 2005/06 the IPCC has welcomed 21 delegations of international visitors to the IPCC who have been involved in setting up or reviewing oversight mechanisms in foreign countries.  If you are involved in similar activity and would like to visit the IPCC to find out more about how we work, then please email us at international.liaison@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk for more information.
