November 2006
Heads and key representatives of national Police Monitoring and Inspection Bodies (PMIBs), together with Heads and key representatives of national Anti-Corruption Agencies (ACAs) of the EU Member States met in Budapest on 22-24 November 2006 for their 6th annual professional Conference. Coming together to form the
European Partmers Against Corruption (EPAC) network, the conference in Budapest saw the creation of the
2006 Budapest Declaration (pdf 42k). During the conference EPAC also pledged its support for the development of an international network for organisations involved in the independent oversight of policing, tentaively know as INIOP.
November 2006: Work begins on a global mapping project to detail oversight mechanisms in existence across the world.

October 2006: International speakers attend the 2006 CACOLE conference, and the second meeting of the Network Inception Working Group takes place.
