IPCC Resources

We want to make sure you can find out whatever you need to know about the IPCC itself and how its run, the work that we do behind the scenes to understand complaints and what's going on local to you.

We're still a young organisation, so we don't have the answers to everything yet, but here are some of the things we've started looking at:

Mental Health & Policing

Mental Health is a factor in many of the most serious cases of police misconduct investigated by the IPCC. Over 50% of deaths in police custody are of people with some form of mental health problem. The IPCC is currently conducting a study which is looking at the use of police cells as places of safety under the Mental Health Act and how this varies across England and Wales (please see the research & statistics section for more information).

The IPCC and Diversity

The IPCC is committed to living and breathing diversity as an organisation. We hope to learn from the creativity and insight of all of our staff and the people we come into contact with, aiming to lead by example.
