    The following organisations provide advice and support to victims and survivors of rape and sexual abuse. These organisations have been part of the IPCC's community reference group.

    Eaves’ Scarlet Centre in based in South London. It supports women who have experienced any form of violence. Services include advice and advocacy, help with benefits and housing, counselling, befriending and group support. Open Tuesday-Saturday 10-5.  Eaves also runs the Amina Project providing support to women who are survivors of sexual abuse by women who are themselves survivors.

    RASASC: The Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre based in Croydon, is a specialist Rape Crisis Centre for the South London Boroughs, working with and supporting survivors of rape and sexual violence. With over 24 years experience providing a high standard of specialist support and information to survivors, highly qualified and experienced workers are here to help you get through this difficult time as best you can in a safe, supportive and confidential environment. You do not need to do this alone.

  • Christopher Alder review (link to The Stationary Office website)
    On 20 April 2004, the Home Secretary, wrote to Nick Hardwick requiring the IPCC to undertake a Review of the events leading up to and following the death of Christopher Alder. The Review was carried out under Section 79(1) of the Police Act 1996.
