Themes in IPCC work
This section provides information on the current themes that the IPCC feel are important
in our guardianship role of working towards improving confidence in the police through the complaints
system, by working on the issues that underpin many of the complaints against the police.
Mental
Health and Policing
Mental Health is a factor in many of the most serious cases
of police
misconduct investigated by the IPCC. Over 50% of deaths in police custody are of people with some form
of mental health problem.
The IPCC
and
Diversity
The
IPCC is committed to living and breathing diversity as an organisation. We hope to learn from the creativity
and insight of all of our staff and the people we come into contact with, aiming to lead by example.
