At a pre inquest hearing today (26 March) HM Coroner moved the date for the inquest into the death of Mark Duggan from 15 October 2012 to the 28 January 2013. The Coroner was advised that a related criminal trial is likely to run into October this year and, as the result of representations made by the Crown Prosecution Service, evidence relevant to the criminal trial that is also relevant to the inquest, will not be provided to all interested persons to the inquest until that trial has concluded. The IPCC also alerted the Coroner and other interested persons to the possibility that it is likely to be in possession of material that would be relevant to the issue of police decision-making but which could not be provided to the inquest for legal reasons. The IPCC investigation into the shooting of Mr Duggan is continuing and the Coroner was advised that the IPCC will provide him with a final investigation report in early Autumn.
